Event Description

Happy Christmas sewers! Almost... :)

I know I am posting this meet a little bit early but you know how busy things get this late in the season! Please RSVP when your ready to accept that the year is almost at an end :)

Of course it's time for some seasonal sewing, we've still got a little time left make a few of those last minute gifts. Got any ideas? What sort of thing do you like to make to decorate your house, or to send as presents? We're collecting ideas to help us all with the crazy season...

Watch this space for details coming soon...

See you soon, and keep sewing xx

Ok, what are we going to get up to girls? This is what I was thinking: Quite a few of us have some quick xmas pressie ideas so those of us who have ourselves sorted should post what we are going to make, what you'll need etc and then those who aren't sure what they want to do or who want to make the same thing can bring along what they need and sew along with you and also you can check out what others are making so that you can have a go at those if you have time, or in your own time, sound ok? We should end up with heaps of great Christmas ideas :)
So me: I really want to make a few felt ornaments for my tree and to send out as gifts so I'll be bringing some felt and Christmassy type fabric and make some decorations similar to those I posted below. I also found this tutorial: http://zakkalife.blogspot.com/2009/11/craft-project-felt-christmas-... which looks really cool. I have a few other ideas also so I'm really just going to wing it, see how much I can get done and anyone is welcome to share in my bumbling experimentations :)

Easy overseas presents? I LIKE it!

PS: I think they would make great easy-to-send presents for overseas, just slip them inside the card.

Great ideas guys, keep them coming. I really want to try and make a few decorations too, I always try to add to my collection each year. Here are some images I collected online that I want to try:

I've got a simple tote bag method that is really useful - it's not so much a pattern as a formula, and I make heaps. I use the big ones for groceries, but I like a narrower one for general shopping. I alos can show everyone how to make very quick lined drawstring bags, which I make in really bright fabrics so I can find stuff in my handbag. I've made every size from big for gift wrapping, to tiny to hold my USBs. I have just joined Morsbags, which promotes making cloth bags to give away. Finally, a use for my stash!

What about re-usable gift bags? Travel or cosmetic bags? (for those looming summer holidays) Grocery/shopping bags? (for a happier planet) Is there a theme emerging here? :o)

Ohh! Hussif, this is new to me, but I have googled it. What a great idea. I have plenty of friends on the verge of giving sewing a try (they follow my facebook album) so what a great present to tempt them over the edge ;)
