Event Description

It's about that time again, guys...time for another meet :)

This meet is rolling back to the Saturday and based on feedback from our upcoming 3rd meet will probably begin alternating between Saturday and Sunday from now on to help more members attend.

If you've just found us, welcome :) I hope you can make this or future meets.

Please discuss below what you'd like to get up to, another sew-along or perhaps just a nice and simple sewing session to give that project a kick-start. See you all soon and, until then, happy sewing xx

Melissa, wouldn't that be a yurt?

Have fun girls, I'l be there in spirit as well :) But to be honest after my epic costume making escapade I need a break form my machine, it had me dreaming of having to do everything through sewing, even my job! Can you imagine designing a building with a sewing machine, haha! :)

Hi gals,

i have a pile of wips that is stressing me out, and chrissy presents to make so that they get to england in time - so that's what i'll be doing this weekend - with you in spirit, but actually sewing at home.

cheers,

Kate

I'm sorry to say that I can't make it on Saturday. Sandra - I'm sorry I won't be able to show you my pageant sash prototype... but that's what I'll be spending Sunday doing - having pageant-sash-o-rama (ie. sewing many many for the upcoming SwapORamaRama!!

Oh, and I'm going to apply pressure regarding the SwapORamaRama sewing stations. It's on the 5th decmeber from 11:00 to 4:00, and will be MEGA fun! I also want restyles for the fashion parade. Hobbyists, students, professionals, everything will be all mixed up together by stylist Em from XPress magazine.

It's getting near that time when we think about wrapping objects in something pretty and giving them away, so if everybody brings some fabric for a drawstring bag I'll demonstrate my "super-quick mega-easy fully-lined drawstring bag" technique. We should be able to make lots of them, of all sizes. Christmas wrapping sorted, and if you make it clear you want it back next year, filled, we can save a branch or two over the years.
I have also designed a couple of new easy pants styles (harem with bunchy ankles, wide legged strapless jumpsuit and a paper bag waist short) that need testing on real people. Then I can adjust the pattern if necessary and take photos for when I upload them. I don't think there will be room to cut them out at the meeting, but anyone who wants to take a copy home to try out is welcome to trace one off. It's easy enough for beginners, although I haven't written up instructions yet, so you may need to sew with a friend. Or cut it out at home and bring it to the meeting to sew. The only condition is you must let me see them so I can perfect the pattern (I'm fussy) and take photos (or let Mel, she's good at that) to show it off on the pattern page. How about we all make them, and then take photos out by the fountain in front of my studio :-D

We don't have much formally planned for this meet so just bring along your sewing machine and a current project to work on, maybe also some show and tell so we can learn what sort of sewing you are in to :)
PS: you won't be a "novice" for much longer, hopefully, that's the aim of this group, help each other learn new skills, improve and keep motivated
